On the occasion of Heinrich Mutter's 100th birthday, we are showing drawings by the artist in a solo exhibition. In the mid-1970s, drawing took on the central role in his artistic work. In an interview, the artist explained that he turned away from color and back to drawing, which shaped his focus on the pencil until his death.

He was a versatile artist who worked as both a painter and draughtsman until the age of 50. In addition to bold oil and acrylic paintings, he created colorful watercolors in the 60s until around 1974. In the 70s and 80s, he devoted himself intensively to lithography and experimented with various techniques of architecture, from sgraffito to glass mosaic to concrete sculptures.

Not only as an important artist, but also as co-initiator and later director of the artists' workshop in the old "Mehlwaage" - Freiburg, he leaves behind an impressive legacy.
